Accreditation Journey - KHOBAR

To ensure standardized education, Al-Hussan International Academy received accreditation from the Commission on International Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA) and the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA) in 2004.

In 2008, CITA merged with NCA to form AdvancED. The school's last accreditation visit under AdvancED took place in 2013/2014, during which it successfully maintained its accreditation status. That same year, Al-Hussan Group pursued corporate accreditation, securing it for all Al-Hussan schools and the head office. In 2019, AdvancED was rebranded as Cognia, and Al-Hussan International Academy continued to align with its accreditation standards. Most recently, in 2024, the school underwent another accreditation visit, further solidifying its commitment to maintaining excellence in education.

The school received IB-DP authorization in August 2011, with a successful re-authorization visit in 2015. In December 2022, the school underwent a remote IB evaluation visit for re-accreditation, successfully maintaining its IB World School status.

A CIS Interim Visit took place in January 2012. The resulting report recommended that the school continue its efforts toward full accreditation. This led to the completion of a Self-Study in October 2013, followed by a Team Visit from Friday, 22nd November to Thursday, 28th November 2013.

In January 2014, the Board of Trustees of the Council of International Schools (CIS) reviewed the school’s accreditation report and officially awarded CIS Accreditation to Al-Hussan International Academy, effective 14th January 2014.

The next phase of the accreditation process included a Preparatory Visit (Preparatory Evaluation) in the second half of 2018, followed by a Self-Study (Team Evaluation) on 20th March 2020. With great pride, HIA was once again granted re-accreditation candidacy status, reinforcing its strong position as a CIS-accredited school.

Al-Hussan International Academy is currently an authorized center for Cambridge International Examinations , Pearson Edexcel, and Oxford AQA examination boards, conducting both practical and theory examinations .
