The 21st Century IB Librarian in Action

Putting ATL-Approaches to Teaching and Learning skills into practice at AHISK

IB students are constantly acquiring knowledge, but how should they utilize it? ATL skills, such as communication, self-management and critical thinking are crucial in teaching students how to responsibly apply their knowledge. We conducted sessions in IBDP Programme for Grade 11P to emphasize these skills. The objective of these sessions was to bring ATL skills into every IB classroom. IB students were engaged in the process of learning and developing their skills.

AHISK - Learning Research Skills (11’P’)

In order to engage students to be Inquirers and thinkers Mr. Faisal our Business Management Teacher took the students to the library to teach students the research skills.

Students are taking a session with the Librarian about the affective use of library resources. This activity is to develop their research skills, which they will use in their Extended Essay’s.

This activity supplements one of the requirements of IBO-Students Learning Profile-Inquirers and Thinkers as Students need to be Researchers for extending research support in their Extended essays and Internal Assessments.

The learner profile is being engaged and enhanced in the library.
