Japan Art Mile 2019-2020

Every year, counselling department offers international project to inculcate global citizenship and international mindedness in students. Students of Al Hussan International School, Girls Section, participated in Japan Art Mile project with Kobe University Secondary School, Japan.

Japan Art Mile is International Intercultural Mural Exchange (IIME) organized by Japan that plays a significant role of contributing to WORLD PEACE, by fostering global citizens by working together to create sustainable future in collaboration with the same generation in the world.

This year, the theme was based on Sustainable Developmental Goals namely, Gender Equality and Sustainable Cities and Communities. Grade 11IB undertook this as a CAS Project from September till February 2020. During 5 months’ time, students introduced themselves, their school and community, their culture to each other through online platform and video conferences. In video conferences with Japanese students, they exchanged their view points on the theme and further discussed the sketch and design of the mural. Japanese students took great interest in the culture of Saudi Arabia and learnt a great deal about our country.

The students of Japan painted half of the mural and sent paints along with the mural for Al Hussan students to paint their side. Grade 11IB students painted the mural quite enthusiastically and appreciated it in the assembly in front of the whole school.
