Inter School Anti Bullying Week

Anti- Bullying Week has been organized in collaboration with Boys Sections of Orbit International School and Al Hussan International School by Counselling Department to develop awareness about bullying and those attitudes/ actions that can lead children towards bullying behaviours. Special thanks to the administration and teachers of Orbit International school for their participation and contribution.

 

Wall Mural OIS

Students from both schools participated in activities and paid visits to schools with their teachers. Students painted wall murals in both schools and learnt a great deal about what bullying is? What are the signs and prevention?

Presentations

Students from both schools presented songs, presentations and role plays about types of bullying and they raised their voices against physical, emotional and racial bullying. Their performances were very well received by the audiences and appreciated by the teachers and management.

Video Conference

Grade 6 to 8 students from Orbit International School connected with Students of Al Hussan International School through a video conference. It was facilitated via google hangouts. Students introduced themselves to each other and mediators commenced the discussion between the two schools. Al Hussan presented role plays and talked about rumours and gossiping, types of bullying while Orbit School students also shared their views and added valuable information about characteristics of a bully and how we can raise self esteem in those students who become the victim.

Focus Group Discussion

Grade 8 – 11 students were part of a focus group discussion in which students from Orbit school paid Al Hussan a visit. They talked about cyberbullying, types and targets of cyberbullying. Students also shared very insightful experiences about effects of cyberbullying on victims and how they can help the victims by becoming up standers. Students watched some videos related to cyber bullying also. They finally wrapped up their discussion by giving each other tips and advice about internet privacy setting and saving evidences to report the cases. Students of both schools enjoyed each other’s companies and made new bonds and connections.

Video Competition

Both schools organized a video competition in which students made original videos about bullying role plays and they focused on how to diffuse the bullying situation. Students were awarded gifts and certificates for the best four videos.

Wall Mural AHISK

Students of Al Hussan had a great experience of posing for a beautiful artistic venture with their art teacher, Mrs. Yasmine Jradi. All the students portrayed an image of a victim of bullying to express their emotions in the form of photos. This experience had a profound effect on the students when they saw the final result of their work.
