Third-graders at OIS are embracing the spirit of scientific inquiry and historical exploration. Inspired by the story "Why is the Statue of Liberty Green?", students conducted a hands-on experiment immersing pennies in a solution of vinegar and salt, which over time, caused a chemical reaction that changed the color of the pennies from copper to green. This transformation mirrored the process by which the Statue of Liberty acquired its distinctive hue.
