Hands on Activity

OIS first graders observed the natural phenomenon of how plants naturally cool their surroundings through a simple paper folding activity.

By folding colored paper into various shapes, students were able to visualize how plant leaves can create shade, reducing the amount of sunlight that reaches the ground. This in turn helps to lower temperatures, providing a cooler environment.

The activity taught students  the scientific principles behind plant cooling, while fostering creative thinking and fine motor skills.
