Gargee'an

Grades celebrated Gargee’an
Gargee'an sometimes spelled as
Gerga’oon, is a semiannual celebration,
observed primarily in Eastern Arabia. It
takes place on the 15th night of the Islamic
month of Sha'ban and on the 15th night of
Ramadan. Gargee'an is marked with
children dressed in traditional attire and
going door-to-door to receive sweets and
nuts from neighbors, whilst also singing
traditional songs. The tradition has existed
for hundreds of years and is deeply rooted
in some parts of the Gulf culture.

Your World

The students of JIS participated in a very exciting
worldwide opportunity through the British Council

‘Your World Competition’. This is a film making
competition where the students made a live action
video or animated style video on their world as they

experienced it they stood first in Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia. The theme for video was ‘Building a brighter

future.

Game Dev

JIS Grade 8 O/P students were engaged with game
maker 8.1 software. They have learned how to create
sprites, objects and rooms in the game. They learned
how to add an event. Students have made a simple
game with two characters and submitted their work
as an online assignment on the Classera. Students
find game maker tools very interesting and they
have explored additional tools to refine their game.
