International Intercultural Mural Exchange

Students of grade 8, Al Hussan International School, Girls Section, are working on a global exchange project named as "International Intercultural Mural Exchange" Japan Art Mile.

Japan Art Mile is an international non-profit organisation supporting the UNESCO. The mission is “Peace building”:  to process, conceptualise and form consensus through mural painting. The goal is to build a foundation for education and cultural awareness.

The purpose of this project is to raise creative children with a sense of responsibility for their thoughts, behaviours and actions by expressing their global views openly in the form of an art mural.

This collaborative learning project is implemented with a partner school in Japan, Tamano JHS for seven months. Students of Al Hussan have chosen a theme, “Peace and Equality”, and are currently working together with Japanese students using an online forum JAM offers.

This project has been conducted by Mrs. Saira Muhammad and Mrs. Sadaf Irshad. Students of Al Hussan and Tamano JHS have already introduced themselves on the forum. They have also exchanged a parcel containing Japanese and Saudi Arabian artefacts and souvenirs of national significance.

Our students communicated and collaborated with Japanese students to create and express their learning into one mural (size: 5-12f / 1.6-3.5m) in cooperation by drawing half by half.

After receiving the parcel, Tomano JHS has published the news in their local newspaper and are planning to invite parents to give them an orientation on Saudi Arabian culture and historical facts.

We will keep Al Hussan Community updated with their latest activities on Japan Art Mile.
