Japan Art Mile

An International Collaborative Project by UNESCO

We are delighted to announce the completion of an international project, Japan Art Mile, in which grade 6H students participated and collaborated with Japanese students from Kanonji Elementary School.

The purpose of this project was to promote global citizenship and internationalism. English and Art teachers Mrs. Shadia Khalil and Mrs. Hadeer Mokhtar coordinated with Mrs. Saira Muhammad to execute this project.

Our students worked with Japanese school for six months on one theme, “Festivals and Cultures.” Both schools worked on spreading awareness about each other’s cultures and traditions.

Students of Al Hussan made beautiful and meaningful projects and PowerPoint presentations under the supervision of their English teacher.

All the projects were posted on JAM Online Forum. Students also had a skype session with Japanese students.

Finally, half painted mural arrived from Japan with special paints for our students to work on the mural. Grade 6H students worked really hard in making the sketch including all important artefacts, buildings and geographical features of the cultures of all the students.

Mural unveiling ceremony was held on 3rd March 2016, International Day (Girls Section) in which Mrs. Momani with Mrs. Majida and Mrs. Eatidal removed the cover from the mural to show it to all the mothers. The mural was very well received and much appreciated.

“Not to forget, this mural with our students’ names on it, will be displayed in

Olympics 2020.”

Al Hussan is proud to be the first school in Saudi Arabia to participate in IIME Japan Art Mile UNESCO
